A Seamless AGM and Lively Community Gathering at Four Seasons Allotments

A Successful and Welcoming Gathering

Despite the threat of rain, our Annual General Meeting went ahead in comfort thanks to Jamie’s generosity in providing us with a cozy indoor venue. By 11am on Sunday 14th September, the room was buzzing with conversation and good spirits as plot-holders gathered to reflect on another busy year at Four Seasons Allotments.

Business Matters and Clear Consensus

The meeting covered a full agenda. It approved last year’s minutes. The meeting included reviewing the 2023/24 and 2024/25 balance sheets. It also involved electing the new committee. Updates to the site rules and new policies on CCTV and waste management were discussed. The committee had taken care to draw on advice from the National Allotment Society. It used insights from other allotment sites to ensure proposals were fair and practical. The proposals also aimed to keep with our community’s friendly spirit.

When it came time to vote, all items passed smoothly — without a single question or objection. The updated constitution, revised site rules, and new CCTV/drone and waste policies were all approved unanimously. This reflects a shared sense of trust and unity across the site.

From Formalities to Festivities

With business concluded, the atmosphere shifted to celebration. The Jacob’s Join was overflowing with homemade delights — freshly baked sourdough, rich butter, colourful cakes, and an array of preserves showcasing the creativity of our members. The chatter and laughter soon filled the room.

The plant and seed swap stole the show, with plot-holders exchanging everything from fiery chillies and juicy tomatoes to hardy brassicas and kale. It was a joy to see growers — both new and seasoned — sharing tips, stories, and inspiration for the growing year ahead.

Looking Ahead

Welcoming many new plot-holders this year has brought both challenges and opportunities, but the AGM was a clear reminder of how strong and inclusive our community has become. The new rules try to strike the right balance, clear and fair, without being over-complicated, helping ensure Four Seasons remains a thriving, welcoming space for everyone.

A Note from the Committee

The committee would like to thank everyone who attended the AGM, contributed ideas, and helped make the day such a success from those who brought delicious food to those who lent a hand with setup and clearing away. Your enthusiasm, goodwill, and community spirit are what make Four Seasons Allotments truly special.

Here’s to another fruitful year of growing, sharing, and enjoying our wonderful community!
