It’s National Allotments Week! 🌱 11–17 August

At Four Seasons Allotments, one of Lancaster District’s newest sites (est. 2016), we’re growing more than just vegetables — we’re growing a thriving community.

In just two years, our volunteer committee, along with help from our plot-holders have:

✅ Raised nearly £10,000 in funding from Pots of Possibilities & the Duchy of Lancaster Benevolent Fund
✅ Installed French drains feeding into a beautiful natural wildlife pond
✅ Cleared tonnes of rubbish — including 500+ car tyres!
✅ Built 30 community raised beds
✅ Planted a mini orchard (with a bigger heritage orchard on the way)
✅ Added security cameras to keep the site safe

What’s next?

We’ve started building a fully accessible community space for events and workshops, with a donated 16x9ft shed already in place. Next up — a huge 14ft-wide polytunnel is planned. It will allow us to grow undercover. We can raise plants to sell. Our community beds will stay productive year-round.

Our vision?

A site for everyone to enjoy. We want more accessible growing spaces and more undercover space. There will be a BBQ and an accessible seating area. We plan to have proper toilets, a composting project, and woodland nature recovery.

It’s big. It’s bold. And we can’t wait to share it with you.
